Like its American cousin, the UK television competition Britain’s Got Talent periodically cuts through the usual parade of questionable singers and bizarre novelty acts to get to something that genuinely touches and inspires. Enter UDI. A dance group from the hinterlands of Siberia, their stunning performance—made up of mindblowing choreography and innovative black light effects—is matched only by their cause. The members of UDI, some of which grew up as orphans in the unforgiving Russian north, want to use their prize money to build a dance school for underprivileged children in their hometown of Tomsk.
